SSL Nucleus 是 Solid State Logic 的 16-fader Mackie Control 设备：含大量按钮、独立 meter、双 LCD。价格较高（写作时约 US$5000），且没有 master fader 等设计引发争议，但非常灵活，无需 extender 即可得到 16-fader surface。
- Nucleus 出厂附带若干 DAW profile，但没有 Ardour（或 Mixbus）的 profile。Ardour 提供了一份尽量多按钮发 MCP 消息的 profile，可在 SSL Nucleus Remote 应用中加载（该应用只能在 macOS/Windows 上运行）
- Nucleus 通过 Ethernet 用 ipMIDI 广播 MCP 消息，任何 LAN 内设备都能参与
- Ardour 内置 ipMIDI 支持，无需第三方驱动，也无需手动指定 port：
* *Connecting via Ardour's own ipMIDI*：在 *Preferences > Control Surfaces* 选中 "SSL Nucleus"，ipMIDI port 号保持默认 21928；仅在电脑未安装第三方 ipMIDI 驱动时可用（若安装了 nerds.de 驱动，必须配置为 0 个 port） * *Connecting via 3rd party ipMIDI*：选中 "SSL Nucleus (via platform MIDI)"，四个下拉框分别选 ipMIDI port 1 / 1 / 2 / 2（main receives/sends、1st extender receives/sends）
设计讨论（可能改变你对该设备的看法）：
- 缺点：无 master fader、无专属 rec-enable 按钮、无专属 automation 按钮、无 Mackie "Marker" 功能按钮（需编辑 profile）、无 "Dyn" 按钮
- 优点：单线缆连接 16 fader、广播连接无需重接线、meter 与 display 分离、支持 DAW profile 切换
- 中肯：可生成 USB keyboard event、支持精细 profile 编辑、内置 analog signal path（需专有驱动，Linux 不可用）
